On-Call Health
oncallhealth.ai
Open-source tool to detect engineering burnout and manage unsustainable on-call workloads.
What it does
On-Call Health is a free, open-source tool designed to monitor and manage the mental health and workload of on-call engineers. Developed by Rootly, it pulls data from various platforms like Rootly, PagerDuty, GitHub, Linear, and Jira to detect signs of unsustainable workloads and burnout. The tool combines objective technical signals with subjective sentiment surveys collected via Slack to calculate individual risk scores. This allows engineering managers to intervene early by rebalancing rotations or pausing non-urgent work before engineers reach a point of exhaustion.
Core features
Multi-tool signal integration (PagerDuty, GitHub, Jira, etc.)
Automated sentiment collection via Slack surveys
Individualized risk scoring system (0-100)
AI-powered trend analysis and summaries
Team and individual health baselines
Open-source (Apache 2.0 license)
Best for
→Detecting engineer burnout before it leads to turnover
→Justifying the need for additional headcount or automation based on objective workload data
→Improving on-call rotation fairness using measurable health trends
