HoverNotes
Browser extension whose visual AI watches videos on YouTube, Udemy and Coursera to write structured notes into Obsidian.
What it does
HoverNotes is a browser extension that generates study notes from online video. Rather than only reading captions, its visual AI watches the screen to capture on-screen code, diagrams and equations, then saves clean markdown notes into a local Obsidian vault. It works across 20+ platforms including YouTube, Udemy, Coursera and university LMS systems.
How to use: To use HoverNotes, users install the Chrome Extension. While watching videos on supported platforms (including YouTube, Udemy, Coursera, Vimeo, Bilibili, and any university or company website), the extension opens alongside the video, creating a focused learning environment. The AI actively analyzes the video content in real-time to generate notes, capture code snippets, and allows for one-click timestamped screenshots. These generated notes are then stored locally in the user's Obsidian vault in pure markdown format.
